install on joomla 1.5

hi i am trying to install this crm but all i get is
Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.
i have tried with both versions
civicrm-4.1.1-joomla
civicrm-4.1.1-joomla-alt
this is through the standard extension manager
this is on my local host as i need to test first if it will work for clients
this is my first CRM

Did you unzip the archive manually?

Two things:

1.   Civicrm 4.x and higher require Joomla 1.7 ..
2.   Joomla 1.5 is going end of life the end of April.
