Forward Reply works with Gmail not Amazon SES

Using CiviMail to forward replies.

When I setup the SMTP settings to use a gmail account, everything works fine. When I change it to use Amazon SES, which I intend to use for our production site, I can't get the reply to forward.

The reply is logged in CiviMail - just not forwarded. I imagine it has something to do with the verified sender aspect of Amazon SES, but I am not sure.

Any ideas?

I can see in CRM_Mailing_Event_BAO_Reply that $mailer->send($mailing->replyto_email, $h, $b); is being called correctly on Line 200 - but no email gets sent.
