possible dreamhost problem?

newbie installing Joomla 2.5 and latest civicrm 4.1 at Dreamhost.  in doing the normal install, nothing comes back from dreamhost, no error messages, nothing. in addition, civiCRM is not listed in the admin area of Components.

yes, it looks alot like a bad install; a) any suggestions on whether to try and remove something that looks like its not install b) maybe i should forget DreamHost as my hosting site?

There are reports on this forum that Dreamhost can run CiviCRM. There are other reports that it is difficult to run CiviCRM on their servers. One report notes that he needed a special php.ini file from them in order to install. That person didn't, however, post that file.

Perhaps ask them if they can help you.
