Export Member Data but Exclude Contacts On Hold

I need to be able to export a member list with the first name, last name, email address, and member expiration but exclude any contacts that are on hold.

Is there a way to do this?

Can't you run a search for what you want and then export those search results?

No - I've tried. I need to do a Membership Search and there is no way to exclude contacts that are on hold - it grabs everyone.  I can do a search by Membership Status and exclude the contacts on hold, but when you include that qualifier of on hold emails, it seems to negate the ability to pull specific membership information like the expiration date.

I don't fully understand what you wrote, but if you can't do it via the web interface, you could always do it in SQL. :)

Thanks - I'll see if I can get some help with the script do do it via SQL. Seems like something CiviCRM should be able to do, but it seems very 'stuck' in terms of flexibility combining related data shared by functions.

Its a non-trivial problem and hence civi is 'stuck' with not allowing the magical 'do whatever i can think of with any set of criteria and operators' export.

Could your org or your clients help with improving the current situation by either contributing code or funding a developer to work on making things more flexible?

Can't the 'search in this group but not in this group' custom search help? Can you make a group of those on hold, and one for your members?

Lobo,

I really, really wish the organization I'm working with could donate towards the project. They are a smaller arts non-profit with little additional income to spare.

I'll look into the custom search option and see if that can help - to be honest, I'd not heard of that type of search before now.

Actually - no, this won't work. If you create a smart group based on a Search Builder query (finding members) it does not pull the expiration date information with the contact list.

You can't create a smart group using Find Members.

I think the work-around will have to be adding the Do Not Mail and On Hold fields to the Find Member search I do monthly, then manually remove those tagged as on hold.
