Wordpress CiviCRM and CiviSchool
April 15, 2012, 03:27:51 pm
Hello, I am setting up a small school's site on Wordpress, and we have decided to give CiviCRM a try with it.  I have both Wordpress and CiviCRM installed and they appear to be basically working.  Now I am trying to decide whether or not to attempt to install the CiviSchool plugin on top of that.  The instructions for installing CiviSchool on CiviCRM 4.1 seem to be pretty Drupal-oriented.

We could just use CiviCRM as is, and I'm wondering if the Wordpress version of CiviCRM is so new that CiviSchool isn't really ready to use with it yet (or perhaps I should say vice versa)?  Does anyone out there have any experience with using CiviSchool and the Wordpress version of CiviCRM?

The CiviSchool stuff (IMO) has 2 limitations currently:

1. It is drupal specific, however it can be made an independent extension in 4.2

2. There are still a few things where the admin needs to make changes directly in the DB. We need to build a UI for all these cases

if you have development resources and would like to push this forward please contact me and we can figure out how to proceed

Hmmmm...thanks for the info.  I am a developer, but not in PHP (I'm a Python guy), and I'm doing this in spare time, so I can't honestly say I have much to contribute in the way of coding.  I am pretty good at documenting, if there is a well characterized way of doing this, but it sounds like for the moment I should stick with vanilla CiviCRM.

Thanks again for the reply.
