Membership Status Override Override

Just ran into the following issue - Think it's a bug, but wanted to make sure and see if there's already an issue open for this (couldn't find one, but finding in JIRA is not easy).

Have a contact with a membership that has a status override with a status of cancelled. If that contact submits a contribution page to pay for that membership, the contribution succeeds, but the membership does not get updated. Status override remains with status of cancelled. No dates change. No other membership record gets created. So the contact has just paid for a membership, but receives no current membership.

Bug? Issue opened already? If not, where in the code should I look to try patching this?

Hi Jay.  Which version are you using?  If 4.0.7 is accurate (as it says in your sidebar) this may be the issue.   Some bug fixes related to membership renewals were fixed in 4.0.8 and later.

If you want to upgrade to 4.0.8, let me know, I have a custom branch of the code myself that I am using that has this bug fixes included.  It's indentical to the stable 4.0.8 with a couple key backports, basically.

Hi Stoob. We have multiple versions deployed. In this case, the bug happened on a 4.1 instance.

what happens if the override has been set to get 'banned' - ie you don't want to allow that person to override the override? or is there another way around that?
