Creating Drupal Users from CiviCRM Contacts

I have a Drupal6-Civicrm4 installation in which the majority of my users are created\imported into the CiviCRM database first. As such the regula Drupal\CiviCRM sync program does not work because it only syncs drupal users to civicrm contacts.
Is there a way or extension that allows for the creation of drupal users from already existing civicrm contacts.
Help here would be much appreciated...

I don't think so, but you could use http://drupal.org/project/user_import

Or the CiviCRM API

Unfortunately this is for Drupal 5 and 6 only.

For Drupal 7 could http://drupal.org/project/uif be the right choice, but I have not tried it yet.

The OP asked for a Drupal 6 solution. :)

For Drupal 7, that module can be used or http://drupal.org/project/migrate
