Civimails are arriving 'blank' with no body etc

it seems to happening for only some recipients but is across all programs, browsers and systems, including iPhones, Macs and PCs; Outllook, Hotmail, Gmail; all the browsers (have heard from people using Thunderbird, Firefox, IE, Opera, Chrome and Safari) and many operating systems (XP, Windows 7, Mac OSX 10.5.8, Mac 10.7 - Lion, Mac OS X 10.6.8). Plus all different ISPs
lobo suggested: check permissions on the files directory and make sure cli has write permission on those

but these would seem to be correct

Can you view the source of these msg? are they really empty or is this the wrong mimepart displayed?

can you paste the source as received?

i have had the raw source fwded to me and it seems to just end after 'date' - not sure which bits i should anonymise - hopefully have done the right thing

Damn, really empty.

Is this always the same email(s) that get empty or bit of random?
This case seems to be a bit special (forward from one email address to the @mac.com)

As an aside quite like that the spam filter gives a adultscore of 2 for breastfeeding ;)

i am not sure yet - the first email that got reported only had a few problems reported. the next one had a lot more. not sure if same people got same email and got problem both times or not.
am just setting up a group of 20 contacts all coming to my email accounts so will see if i am lucky enough to get a blank myself

If it helps the diagnosis of where the problem is (or isn't) below are some entries from the exim4 log.

Those logs look fine to me, though I'm not a mail expert and perhaps someone with more knowledge can spot something meaningful that I'm missing.

S=746 looks like a blank message (767 bytes for headers only, compared with S=2767 for the email with expected content). Looks like the mails are hitting your MTA blank, not getting munged in transit. Exim log is from the same machine as CiviCRM is on?

Try a run rerouting emails to disk (CIVICRM_MAIL_LOG) then look at the sizes of the output messages? If the issue is diskspace related (can't build templates because disk full) then that may exacerbate. Which is good for debugging.

Can you reproduce it by re-running the same mailout against the contacts who previously got empties? (If it's related to the contacts / contact data being used in the mailout, perhaps something causes mail templating to error out rather than produce output (eg if custom data X doesn't exist for that contact). {/guess})

Sounds like you've had a good look for patterns already (ISPs, MUAs, platforms) :) Am I right in recalling CiviMail sends emails alphabetically by address or contact name? Any pattern there to the empties (eg R..Z)?

so problem occurs when a contact has more than one primary - the contacts at the end of the list (rather than the contact with 2 primaries) are affected.

Any follow up info on this?

I've been experiencing the same problem but have not been able to narrow it down to having multiple primaries. I am having blank mails sent to random addresses when sending out test mails. I will send tests to a list of 2 emails and the blank mail will randomly alternate between users.

Any ideas?
