I think it would be more clear if, on the screen where you add Relationship types, the options for "Contact Type A" and  "Contact Type B" said "All Contacts, Individual, Organization ..." instead of the current "-select -, Individual, Organization ...".  It took me a while to realize that I could just leave that on "select" when I wanted to have a relationship that didn't require a specific contact type.

I'm assuming this would be a very easy change to make, and I can do that, but I wasn't sure if there was a protocol for deciding if this kind of change is a good idea or not before I go to the trouble.

Please file an issue and attach your patch to the issue

Might also want to check and fix the help text if there is any attached to that screen
