CiviMail unsubscribe handling configuration
February 20, 2008, 05:44:09 pm
At long last I have gotten CiviMail 1.9 on Drupal 5.7 running locally on my Mac OS X Leopard machine under MAMP and MailServe  so that it will send emails! Soon, I will post the steps I took (insofar as I can remember--I tried a lot of different things!). I'd like to thank the others who have posted here as your tips paved the way for me to get this far.

I still have one little stumbling block. I receive the email and I click on unsubscribe to test that feature and send that email. Then I go to the http://localhost:8888/drupal/civicrm/mailing/report page to check if it records the unsubscribe but it does not report it. I receive that unsubscribe request email in my catchall email inbox so it is getting there but it seems CiviMail is not being informed of it. Is there a cron I have to run first? Or do I likely have something misconfigured on http://localhost:8888/drupal/civicrm/contact/domain?reset=1&action=update

We have not gotten the return main processing working with the soap interface yet, so we are using the {unsubscribeUrl} and {optOutUrl} See details and overcome issue here:

Have you tried this approach?

If you didn’t receive the unsubscribe confirmation, then most probably you don’t have the return channel (either based on AMaViS or imap2soap) set up properly.

If you’re using imap2soap, then I think so, yes (it’s a community contribution, so we don’t really know it too well).

As Dave suggests, you can try using the {unsubscribeUrl} token for starters.
If you found the above helpful, please consider helping us in return – you can even steer CiviCRM’s future and help us extend CiviCRM in ways useful to you.
