On the final step of creating an email blast, by default the "send immediately" box is checked. If someone begins to fill out a date, opting to schedule the mailing for a different time rather than immediately, and they click "submit mailing", the mail will be sent immediately.

Seems like it would be more intuitive for the box to get deselected as soon as someone starts filling out date/time to schedule the mailing.

On a related note, is it possible from the user interface (with admin perms) to set that page to NOT have "send immediately" checked by default? In the interim before this is fixed, it'd be good to reduce the risk of sending out mailings immediately by setting the default to unchecked.

I've filed an issue an a fix for this in 4.1 (will be part of 4.1.3 release). However, it's a simple patch if folks want to apply it.

To patch an install, modify line 89 in templates/CRM/Mailing/Form/Schedule.tpl. That line should read as follows:

cj('#start_date_display').change( function( ) {
