[Solved] Site breaks with Internet Explorer IE9

Thought I'd share this with the community and perhaps save another noob like myself a heap of trauma and searching.

The CiviCRM 4.1.2, Drupal 6 site I'm building looks great in Firefox, Chrome and Safari.
Then I checked it in IE9. OMG! The layout of both the front end site and the back-end CiviCRM failed dramatically.
After 4 hours of searching and trying different solutions I found the answer - Internet Explorer doesn't play nicely with lots of CSS files.

The easy fix is to to enable Drupal's CSS optimisation (Administer/Site configuration/Performance), and then force a refresh of IE (Shift+Refresh).

Problem solved.

This is a known bug in IE. For Drupal 6: http://drupal.org/project/ie_css_optimizer

For Drupal 7, this bug should not affect your sites due to the way D7 handles CSS files.
