Can't change Priceset after online-registration

HELP!
For some reason after someone registered online for an event, I can't change his/ her selected price option in the 'Edit Event Registration'-page.
In our case people have four different price options: member/ no member with/ without overnight stay.
My problem is that I really need to be able to change the selection after an online-registration, because most people don't know, if they are a member or not and chose the wrong option.

Is there any way to enable CiviCRM users to change the selectet price option afterwards?!?!

We don't allow to edit the selected price sets since there are line item records associated with same in addition to the participant record.

The cleaner approach to achieve the same will be to delete the existing wrong record,
and create a new offline participant record for the same (with correct data).
