[SOLVED] Importing UK Addresses - County Problem
April 30, 2012, 06:45:35 am
Hi everyone,

I'm just starting out with CiviCRM, so apologies if I'm making a noob mistake.

I'm trying to import some contact data - individuals and organisations, but I'm getting stuck with getting CiviCRM to recognise my UK counties.

I've installed the UK localisation file, and the UK counties are listed in the state_province db table.

When I setup the import, I map the CSV county field to the State field, but I always get the error: Invalid value for field(s) : State / Province

I've tried using the name and abbreviation, but neither works. I've also tried mapping the field to the County field, but I've read elsewhere that it wouldn't work and it didn't.

Can anyone provide any advice on how to get this working?

Thanks
Hans

I just wanted to add, when mapping the UK county to the County field, the error it gives is:
Invalid value for field(s) : County input value not in county table: The County value appears to be invalid. It does not match any value in CiviCRM table of counties.

Notice the additional error regarding the value not matching an entry in the table of counties, the error I'm getting when mapping to State does not add that, so presumably it's finding the matching value but there's some other problem with it?

For the country field I've used GB and United Kingdom, both of which seem to work.

Thanks
Hans

Ok, so it was a noob mistake!

I found this post:
http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,9462.msg40850.html#msg40850

In my localisation settings the United Kingdom was not included in the 'Available States and Provinces' selection.
This is under Administer -> Localisation -> Languages, Currencies, Locations

Hopefully this helps someone else too.

Regards
Hans
