Hi all. I'm new here and new to CiviCRM but have been tasked with speeding up the saving of contact data and subsequent page load. Right now I'm getting anywhere from 6 to 10 seconds to save and load the next page after editing an individual. Is this a typical time for saving the data? Can anyone point me to a file or files that are involved in saving the data to the database? Or maybe someone out there has already made something to decrease load time?

Hi. No, 10 seconds is not typical--that's quite slow actually. This is not an issue of a certain file--the issue here is that CiviCRM is inherently resource intensive, meaning it requires a lot of CPU and RAM on the server. Aside from standard Drupal caching methods, there are no simple ways to speed this up, aside from finding a better host machine or optimizing your host machine itself more.
