Default country takes over on Batch via profile

Hello
When using the batch profile to add a country to a contact and when there is no country [empty] for a contact then the batch shows the default country for this contact.
This means if I accept the modification then the contact get the default country. There is no way to reverse. If a contact is set to another country than the default, there is no way to set for the default one.
Any idea ?
