Vague error message on attempt to upgrade from 4.0.8 to 4.1.0

I have deleted the civicrm 4.0.8 folder and replaced it with 4.1.0 and done the other steps for upgrading in Drupal 7. When I do this, I get a vague and unhelpful error that says "The site encountered and error. Please try again later". Where do I even begin to trace this error?

Can you enable debugging and backtrace as per http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Debugging ?

I turned on debugging and realized that files/civicrm/ConfigAndLog/Config.IDS.ini needed to be deleted. So this should be added to the instructions for upgrades. Delete templates_c and Config.IDS.ini before running the upgrade to avoid any problems that may have cropped up during a failed upgrade.

Deleting templates_c is actually on the Upgrade Drupal Sites to 4.1 - Drupal 7 page in the Reset config_backend section.

But you are right about the other issue and so I added there a note about files/civicrm/ConfigAndLog/Config.IDS.ini.

Thank you.
