Resend Event Confirmation Email - Backend
May 02, 2012, 05:26:52 pm
Hi, I am struggling with event confirmation emails.

Front End: Registrants receive a custom email confirmation which includes the information of the two profiles we selected to add to the registration page. It also includes the registration fee, billing name and address, and credit card information as well as the attache PDF.

This all works like a charm.

Back End: We have the workflow templates for "Events - Registration Confirmation and Receipt (off-line)" & "Events - Registration Confirmation and Receipt (on-line)" set up to show the exact same information, but it seems to miss out information when:

1) Resending a confirmation for an existent registration. We do this by going to Events > Find Participants > Edit > Send Confirmation and Receipt.

2) Creating a back-end registration: Events > Register Event Participant.

The confirmation email for the back-end registrations/re-send option only shows the registered email and the registration fee section, but is missing out on all the other sections, like the custom profiles, etc.

My question now is how are we able to send the same confirmation email when registering/re-send through the back-end as we do through the front-end?

Thanks!

unfortunately there is a fair bit of separation between front end and backend registration within CiviCRM. The backend does not use the profiles specified in the frontend.

would be good to figure out how to reconcile this difference. I dont think this is a trivial project, i suspect someone will need to spend > 30-50 hours trying to figure out and implement a solution

I think allowing the admin to edit the "front end registration" form would be a significant improvement. We could implement different rules based on the type of payment etc and also expose a few more fields.

definitely something that civievent needs to evolve towards

Could this become a "Make-it-happen" campaign? I think many organizations are using CiviEvent for their annual conferences and meetings and are struggling with this.

I would be happy to share our conference experience (400 attendees) to help with the workflow.

Thanks!

Would your org be willing to act as a see funder for this MIH? i.e. willing to sponsor 20-30 hours (i.e. 2K - 3K?) of the 50 hours?

I am bringing this up in our next meeting. But I have my doubts. We still need to upgrade to CiviCRM 4.1. Just for my understanding, do you normally require seed funding to start a MIH?

Thank you!

Yes, for medium to large size projects (which this one falls under), seed funding makes it a lot more likely to succeed. We also then have someone in the community taking the extra step of pushing the initiative forward
