Converting to multi-site
May 03, 2012, 03:49:47 am
I've got a couple of CiviCRM installations that would benefit from being converted to multisite set-ups. I've read through the current instructions to set up a multisite implementation, and these appear to assume that we are starting with a clean install.

Has anyone gone through a conversion?

How do I take one (or two) separate CiviCRM installations, convert one to a multisite, ensuring that all the data relates to site1, and then optionally implement a second site, bringing all the data from a second single site db into the set up, ensuring that all the site2 data is correctly integrated?

Anyone successfully done some or all of this? I'd love to hear from you.

And I'll add what I learn to the wiki.

Converting an existing site into a multisite is just a case of setting multisite to be 'on' & doing the stuff in the documentation. You might need to add existing contacts to your domain group - but adding a second is more like a migration - you need to import your contacts etc into DB #1

Note that the settings in civicrm.settings.php have been moved to the gui.
