Problem installing with GoDaddy Wordpress
May 04, 2012, 05:37:16 pm
GoDaddy is hosting a Wordpress site for me as of today, using Wordpress version 3.3.2.  I would like to install CiviCRM. I have downloaded civiccrm-4.1.4-wordpress.zip.  On the Wordpress dashboard, I go to the plugins tab on the left and click "add new."  I then click "upload" and choose the zip file.  I click "install now" and it appears to upload, but when it gets to 99%, it flashes to a screen that says "are you sure you want to do this?" (which is unclickable) and "Please try again" (which when clicked, takes you back to the upload screen).  The top of the tab says WordPress Failure Notice.

In case it is not obvious, I have no programming/coding background at all - just trying to bumble through b/c I heard that civicrm was a good CRM system to use.  Please advise!

Yes, I was trying to follow the install guide.  My description above reflects the problem starting at Step 4.

i dont see the place where you are asked to click "add new" and upload the zip file (actuall

i would follow the instructions closely. civi is a large component and many a time and in most host the upload/unzip fails, hence we ask u to do it manually

providence, it sounds like you didn't do Step 3 in the install guide actually. Also, the current stable version of CiviCRM is actually 4.1.2.
