I'm seeing failures in CiviContribute after clicking "Confirm Contribution" on the initial screen of any contribution page.  This only happens when a user is not logged into the Drupal site.  It doesn't matter whether it is a pay now or pay later contribution.  I think this has been happening since I upgraded to CiviCRM 4.1.1 from 3.4.8 but I can't be sure.

Cookies are enabled - I've tried a couple of other browsers that don't have a blocking feature.  I used the Firefox "Live HTTP Headers" extension to watch what was happening with cookies.  After the initial "Set-Cookie:" header is sent, all subsequent requests contain the (exact same- verified with "grep -c ...") cookie that was set.

The domain/base URL is correct.  I may have had a http/https mismatch but I've corrected this and it still doesn't work.

This feels like some permission error where I haven't assigned some permission to the "anonymous user" role.  I allow "make online contributions" and "profile create"

This is with CiviCRM 4.1.2, Drupal 6.22, PHP 5.3.10.

Any ideas?

FYI - I see this issue in the watchdog file.  not sure what the cause is either
