Recording multiple contributions towards an Event fee
May 10, 2012, 02:28:53 pm
I'm looking at the View Participant page at civicrm/contact/view/participant?reset=1&action=view&id=[pid]&cid=[cid].  It shows at the bottom a list of contributions associated with the participant record via the civicrm_participant_payment table.

In the case that the original contribution is a pay-later and someone sends a check less than the full event fee, is there an easy way to add more contributions associated with that participant record when the participant later writes one or more checks later to make up the difference?

In trying some things on a test site, I succeeded in creating a new Event contribution through Contribution -> New Contribution.  Then I manually created the participant_payment record in phpmyadmin to link the contribution to the participant record.  It then showed up on the View Participant page, as you can see in the screen shot.  That's clearly not a good solution for everyday use.  Is there a way I'm missing to make this happen through CiviCRM, or do I need to bust out some good ol' Drupal module code?
