Records change subtype on Profile submission
May 12, 2012, 01:24:28 pm
I have a strange issue with contact subtypes. We use a set of profiles that are displayed on our users drupal user profiles (Usecase "View/edit user account").
Many of our Records are of Contact Subtype "Student". Unfortunately when users update their profile (through Drupal account editing) their subtype is set to "Individual".

Can anybody tell me why this happens and how to fix it? We do a lot of searches based on Contact Subtype and this is giving us some serious headaches.

Might want to check:

http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-10095?page=com.atlassian.jirafisheyeplugin:fisheye-issuepanel#issue-tabs

However i dont think that patch was complete and i modified it before committing. Might want to check the code in trunk for that and potentially backport it to 4.1

Thank you very much for that tip!

The patch solved the issue for us. I just commited it without modification and everything seems to work fine! (Drupal6, Civi 4.1.1)
So I think you can commit it to the repo as well.

Best, Nostra

On another sidenote. I just upgraded to 4.1.2 and there it does not work anymore! Will try to fix is using the earlier patch.

//edit: The patch also works for 4.1.2. Thanks again!

this has been fixed for 4.2. As i mentioned previously i think the patch as it was in the issue is not complete and u'll need to compare with the latest 4.2 to backport it to 4.1.x
