Can't create new contribution page
May 15, 2012, 05:39:25 pm
Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has run into this problem while trying to create a new contribution page? I have installed and set up civicrm to the best of my ability and am having issues with my installation with civicrm 4.1.2 on my drupal installation 7.14. All modules and and user roles have been assigned and a new campaign has been created ... but ... when I try and create a new contribution page, I just keep getting redirected to the 'Create New Contribution' page that I am trying to continue from. I don't get any errors, but something is obviously keeping me from creating a new contribution page. Anyone have a clue what I am missing?

Thanks.

can you confirm that the urls aren't changing as you are working through the process?

Thanks for the reply,

Ya, I checked out some other topics and saw that this might the the issue, but it's not unfortunately. The URL's stay constant throughout the front and backend of the site. I tried a fresh install and I can do pretty much everything except add a new contribution page. It must be something I didn't set up or something like that, but I'm at a loss as to what that might be.

can you compare with demo to spot any differences

Hi again,

I've tried both the links from the 'Contribution' -> 'Add Contribution Page' as well as 'Administer' --> 'CiviContribute' -> 'Add Contribution Page'.

I also just saw that I can't add events either. It reverts back to the create event page just like the add contribution page does.

What do you think...permissions? Database? Something not set up preventing me from creating pages/events?

I've gone through things a few times already. CiviCRM is running on a separate db than the actual site as recommended to increase performance. Admin privileges have been granted to all parts of the site's modules and CiviCRM's components. I can't really think of anything else ... that and I'm a complete rookie to the software.

Here's hoping for some suggestions...

Thanks again.

Edit - Yes, I can add a contribution directly to a contact.

sorry but i won't be the guy to help you out of this one - other than to say that we always have civi in same database

you may need to paste back some urls (hide the site of course) for others to run their experienced eye over - and also try doing a load of other things and see what else is failing for you

Quick question ... How much does settings.php have to do with saving info? Anything? Nothing?

I took a look at the demo site and noticed that the demo wasn't using clean url's. I switched mine off and now I can proceed with contribution page creation and event creation. Does anyone know how I would go about setting up clean url's AND be able to use the backend of civicrm?
