Database check failed and Fatal DB error
May 15, 2012, 06:27:38 pm
Upgrading from Drupal 6.26 to 7.14 and from CiviCRM 3.2 to 4.1

Ran the Upgrade script and got ‘page not found’.  I then followed the ‘page not found’ trouble shooting guide.  When saving the /admin/modules/list/confirm configuration with CiviCRM enabled I got a fatal error.  I tried a second time and was able to rum the Upgrade script.  This resulted in a non-recoverable error ‘Database check failed – the database looks to have been partially upgraded.’  Troubleshooting guidelines suggest ‘Download and run Database Troubleshooting Tools.  The Database Troubleshooting Tools page has a warning: “This tool does not work with the current stable version of CiviCRM”

Also, now enabling the Administration Menu results in

“Fatal DB error, exiting, seems like your schema does not have civicrm_setting table.”

I am looking for any suggestions.

I hope you have a backup of your CiviCRM database. Best thing is to:

1. Disable CiviCRM module
2. Remove old CiviCRM database (or tables)
3. Remove sites/default/civicrm.settings.php
4. Run the CiviCRM installer ( sites/all/modules/civicrm/install/index.php )
5. Remove new CiviCRM database (or tables)
6. Replace CiviCRM database (or tables) with your backup
7. Run the upgrader civicrm/upgrade?reset=1

This will get a clean fresh install and thus a good sites/default/civicrm.settings.php file and then you can run the upgrader using your old tables.

Thanks.  That worked.  I had some custom field tables I will now also try to recover.

getting th same error going from 3.4 to 4.1, looks like i'm gonna have to do this also....

where it says,  4. Run the CiviCRM installer ( sites/all/modules/civicrm/install/index.php )

is that an instruction to reinstall 3.4 then drop those tables replace them with th old 3.4 tables then over write 3.4 with 4.1 and run civicrm/upgrade?reset=1

or am i installing 4.1 then drop those tables replace them with th old 3.4 tables then run civicrm/upgrade?reset=1

Thank you for any help.
