hello michael,
--click on search and select "search builder"
--select individual
--no bulk emails (user opt out)
--equal 1 (=1)

under the section "Also include contacts where", repeat the above for organizations and that should give you what you want

michael,
i am not sure that i understand what you said and what it is that you want to do.

did you mean: how can i add individuals and organizations who are labeled "no bulk mail" to a group?

if that is what you meant, then all you have to do is:
-- repeat the search using search builder
-- select "add contacts to group" from the drop down menu for "actions"

if i misunderstood you please see if you can rephrase your question and i will try to help you further

thank you,
cynthia

dear cynthia,

you undrstand this correct and give me a useful answer.

the second problem is, how i can put a cross in the "no BULK Emal" field for a lot of members od a list they have at the moment NOT a cross in this field.

The situations: I import 200 individuals in a temporary group named for example "None Emails". Now i will the 200 mewmber of this group tagged with the label "no bulk email" Thats my second problem: How i can do this?

michael,
once again, i am not sure i understand what you are asking.

did you mean: how do i mark the 200 individuals who are in the "none emails" group, "no bulk emails"?

i will provide an aswer but first i want to make sure i understand what you want to do.

thank you michael,
cynthia

Dear Cynthia,

yes, correct all the 200 indivuduals hat at the moment NOT this label and can receive a bulk email, but will set all the 200 individuall with this special label from civicrm "not BULK Email" ;-)

You havew a solution?

michael,
yes, i have a solution :)

-- search for the members of the group and put a dot in the circle to select all 200
-- select "export contacts" from the actions drop down menu and click on "go"
-- choose "select fields for export" and continue
-- record type=individual and the field name=internal contact id
record type=individual and the field name=no bulk emails (user opt out)
-- export the records

-- use excel or whatever you like to globally change all the values in the no bulk emails column to "1"
-- delete all the columns except for internal contact id and no bulk emails (you do not need the otehr columns)

-- click on contacts and select "import contacts"
-- browse for the file you exported and cleaned up
-- put a check in the box for "first row contains column headers"
-- under import options: contact type-individual and "for duplicate contacts" select "update". click on continue
-- match the fields in the import file to the corresponding fields in civi: internal contact id and no bulk emails are the only two fields you should have
-- import the file and you should see that all 200 records are now marked "no bulk emails"

if there are record types other than individuals e.g. organizations, you will have to repeat the above porcess for them

michael: i would strongly suggest you try this with one or two records first, to make sure the process will work as you want it to. then, you can go back and update all of the records in bulk.

good luck,
cynthis

Dear cynthia,

this is "a bridge" you build. Thanks a lot for this way. But it say me also, at the moment its not possible to to it with the normal functions of civicrm in a batch process!?

I will try this, before i must read a little bit about "Import and set "1" to sepcial fields. I dont use this before. I import a lot of datas via csv-file, but everytime emails and adress data...

dear michael,
i am not aware of a way to do this via a batch process: you can remove emails from the "on hold" status that way, but I do not think you can use the batch process to mark contact records for "no bulk emails".

greetings to you from philadelphia, PA USA :)

Dear Cynthia,

yes i know this way also for "on hold"-Status, this is the reason thats i believe before our discuss is also possible with "Bulk"-Problem..

Greetings 2 philadelphia (next time a part of europe)  ;-)

michael,
i spoke too soon. there is another way to do this.

-- click on administer and select custom data and then profiles
-- click on add profile
-- give the profile a name and check the box to include in search results. save the profile
-- field name=contacts and the field label=no bulk emails
-- check the box for searchable and save the changes you made on this screen
-- do a search to find the individuals in your group of 200 (note: if there are organizations in the group you will have to do them separately)
-- select 'batch uupdate via profile" from the actions drop down menu. click on go
-- select the profile that you just created and click on continue
-- click in the first box to put a check mark in it
-- click on the copy icon to the left of "no bulk emails"
-- you should now see a check in all the boxes (note: you may have to do this in batches of 50 as i think there may be a limit for the batch update process)
-- click on update contacts and that should do it

repeat the above for contact types other then individuals

and you can also use the above for the reverse: to remove the no bulk emails from contact records marked as such.
