Senior architect/developer(s) for art portal - integration and customization

ArtSpan ( http://www.artspan.org/ ), San Francisco's premiere non-profit visual arts organizations responsible for producing San Francisco Open Studios and Art for City Youth, seeks contract web programmer(s) to develop a new arts community portal and end-to-end infrastructure based on open source technologies.

Our intention is to drive thought leadership in the arts community, with an online portal to support and extend ArtSpan's programs, bringing together artists, collectors, teachers and students in both live and virtual dialogue. In so doing, ArtSpan brings the Open Studios experience of one-on-one interaction with an artist to everyone.

We have completed an extensive requirement gathering process and now need expert implementor(s) to architect, design, develop and deploy a system on current open source CRM and CMS platforms (CiviCRM on Drupal or Joomla, though others would be considered). The key features include membership, CMS, events, art search, community, personalization, CRM and financial reports. We want to leverage the open source platforms, add functions, create new modules and customize for our requirements. Our vision is to approach this project in a completely open way, code we develop will be contributed back to the projects, and we'll publish the work so other non-profits with similar needs can benefit.

We think this is an exciting project with wide impact. If you have the experience (specifically open source CRM/CMS integrations with membership and event features) and reference work in this area we would like to hear from you! Please respond by 3/1/2008 with your qualifications, rates, and reference sites.
