End of Year Contribution Letter

My biggest issue with CiviCRM is that it is marketed to non-profits and yet one of the key features needed by non-profits is to be able to generate an end of  year letter listing all the donations given by a particular contributor to either mail or email.

There's been several attempts posted around at trying to solve this issue but they are all custom coded for a specific use case.

Why is this not a priority for Civi to get into core? Seems like a report with the ability to generate a page for each contributor would be the best solution.

There is actually such a tool for Drupal 7 here: https://github.com/hershelsr/civireceipts.d7

Samuel from Koumbit did some work on this that I believe will be part of 4.2 - you should grab it once it goes Alpha (or from svn) & test it.

I just played with the sandbox and that is wonderful what they did!!!!  That's all the functionality I could have asked for!!!

When will 4.2 be released to stable for a production site?
