Cron configuration help
May 21, 2012, 10:45:19 pm
Using CiviCRM 4.1.1 on Ubuntu 7.  Trying to get CiviMail actually doing mailing.  I can send emails manually and the Test step in setting up a mailing works correctly.  I'm on an ubuntu server using elasticemail.com as an smtp.  I've done a ton of cron work on other apps but I can't get this to work.  It's a new, practically empty CiviCRM installation.

Getting this set up is particularly frustrating because the supposedly helpful sticky post at the top references a manual that's out of date; the return account setup doesn't have a "default" option (I presume "bounces" is the new correct option) and the referenced EmailProcessor.php file has been deprecated.

Do how do I go about configuring this?  When I run the wget by command line there are no errors returned but the emails don't get sent.  When I try the URL directly in a browser I just get a white screen.  There is no record of the mass mailings being attempted in the elasticemail.com log.  I am using the site key copied/pasted from /sites/default/civicrm.settings.php.

Thanks!

Well that much is correct so that's a good sign. :)

And SMTP is your outgoing mail method? And you have Mailers that are queued and ready to be sent?

Can you check to see if your server attempts to contact elasticemail.com?

Yes, SMTP.

How do I check if it tried to connect?  Normally I would look at the mail log, but that's at elasticemail.com and it's log shows nothing.

You would have to check your system's outgoing traffic.
