I am getting the following error when sending bulk mail

Failed to set sender: b.9.8.caec23f674eb1c62@ [SMTP: Invalid response code received from SMTP server while sending email. This is often caused by a misconfiguration in Outbound Email settings. Please verify the settings at Administer CiviCRM >> Global Set.

I am using CiviMail set to use mail() and the outbound mail settings are setup and working when tested.

I am using WordPress 3.3.2 and CiviCRM 4.1.2

The error "Failed to set sender" appears to mean that your SMTP doesn't allow wildcard (or catch-all) addresses. I would ask your host about this.
