Wordpress 3.2 with CiviCRM 4.1.2 - Can't display online event on public side
May 25, 2012, 04:00:45 pm
I have had now problem for years, working with CiviCRM and Joomla but now that we have switched to Wordpress I am stuck trying to figure out why I can't get my event registration to show on the public side of the site.

The test drive goes fine (on the backend) and the link works great but it goes to the admin/backend of the site. I have been over and over the documentation and the forums but I can't seem to see where I going wrong.

Pasting the widget code to a page or post just shows up as code after it's publised.

I tried takeing the 'wp-admin' off the url that I post to the web but that didn't work either.

What am I doing wrong?

Have you tried manually putting in the link based on id, etc, such as:

http://wordpress.demo.civicrm.org/?page=CiviCRM&q=civicrm/event/register&reset=1&id=3

but with your site url and your event id? Does it work?

Also have you double-checked your base url?

Have you checked permissions?

Have you checked public flag on your event?

This will all help give a better idea of what you have/haven't done.

Sorry, I'm almost there. Now I do get the link to go to my public side of my site (from another one of our sites)  but it has the CiviCRM admin panel at the top. If you click on the civi menu it says you do not have permission to access this menu.

Also, If I try to click 'register now' it just goes to a blank page called events.

http://nasconline.com/events/?page=CiviCRM&q=civicrm/event/info&reset=1&id=7 (I added  'events' , took out wp-admin)

I placed the page named 'events' after our site name so it would have a place to go, I created the events page but left it in
draft mode so it would not show on the menu. If I didn't create that page the link takes it to my home page and overwrites what I have there.

What am I doing wrong now.?  Does the link that CiviCRM created in 'manage events' only work on the site it was created on?

I am a little confused at what you are trying to achieve. What is the working link to the event registration on your site? The link you have posted looks like it goes to a page with a .png image on it.

So can you post that link and then try to explain again what you are doing? It sounds like the events page you created is a wordpress page, not a civicrm page, too. The link should work to the public event so long as it is public and the permissions are correct.

Check your permissions for that civicrm admin panel too. I assume you are accessing the page as an anonymous user when you say you are seeing the panel (see http://book.civicrm.org/user/website-integration/integrating-with-wordpress).

Not sure I understand, why would it work on another site then the one it was created on?
