Offline event registrations - shows all custom fields used for Participants

I know there has been some discussion on here about the differences between online and offline event registrations. My attention was drown to the fact that when someone register online for an event, they receive a confirmation email that includes the profiles that have been chosen for this event (i.e. appear on the registration form). But when an admin registers a participant via the backend i.e. via the contact record, the confirmation email that gets sent to the participant shows all custom fields that have been set up to the used for Participants. I can see that all these fields show on the offline registration screen as well.

The 'fix' I have implemented is to simply remove all the custom data fields from the offline event registration confirmation email template, but ideally there would be a better way with more finely tuned control.
Is there any possibility of using profiles for offline registration as well as online? Or any other thoughts on how to improve this going forward?

i do think we need to address this issue sometime. Has been coming up a bit too often in the recent past :(

Basically we need to allow an admin to go thru the same form and bypass some of the payment rules and/or optionally no payment? That might be the easiest way to tackle this issue.
