May 29, 2012, 06:47:38 am
Hello guys,

In my site when user's membership is expired then users want to renew that membership. So user fill the form for renew membership user's membership will renew, In admin side show both expired and current membership. And sometimes user's membership is expired then show many expired membership for one user. So i want to know how to stop membership duplicity.

Thanks in advance.

CiviCRM works on the concept that once a membership has expired you can't renew it - you might be a member for a year, then stop for 2 then sign up again & it's appropriate that it show as 2 memberships.

However, there is a grace period in which a renewal will restart your existing membership - you can edit you membership status rules if the default grace period is too short

Why does the "Add Membership" button show, when the user is already a member? I don't want them to be able to buy multiple memberships.

john - usually the 'add membership' would only be showing to admins, and the member would be purchasing their membership via a contribution page - am i misunderstanding your point?
