I noticed when creating a new contact (I'm still building the initial contacts into the database) that oftentimes I don't have the "tags" I want when adding a new contact. It would be cool if there was an "Add New Tag" option rather than needing to go to the Tag Administration section to add new tags.

That could be fairly easy to add (using the api & ajax). Do you think you could work on that?

New contact form does have Tags and Groups pane. How are you adding contacts?

I understood it as creating a new tag that doesn't exist (before tagging the contact with it, that does)

Xavier is correct on my usage case. As far as developing the feature - I'll keep it in mind. I haven't jumped into the CiviCRM codebase yet and am a bit stretched thin, but would like to contribute as I am able.
