Custom profiles not showing up in online registration

Hi,

I had to create a custom field in an event online  registration form.

As soon as I add my custom field (a list of 12 checkboxes) the profile does not show up in the online registration part of the event creation. I can add an arbitrary profile without the custom field, but as soon as it is included in said profile, it does not show up.

Right now, each event I create, I have to add the profile without the custom field and then re-add the custom field after the profile is lodged in the event registration section already. It works, but it means that every event will have to have its own custom field created in this round-about way. That gets to be a pain when I'm looking at 400 events.

Any help appreciated.

That is weird, I am currently working with the same setup for one of my projects, using custom data and adding them to a profile and it works for me. What version of Civi are you using and what CMS?

can you explain more about the properties of the custom field - is it used for Contacts or Participants or what?

I'm running Joomla 2.5 and Civi 4.1

The custom field is an Alphanumeric  Advanced Multi-Select for shifts to be picked up by volunteers. So I created a new activity - Collecting Signatures. So the custom Multi Select field is assigned to an activity.

Tried it with checkboxes too...same result.

Think I found the problem.

Instead of adding it as an Activity, I just moved e custom field to a Contact. That way it actually shows up in the dropdown when you set up the online registration part of the deal. AND the data gets captured for export. So, it's good for now. Thank you.
