Solved - Multiple Custom Field Groups not showing in Advanced Search
May 31, 2012, 08:46:22 am
I have created a couple of groups of custom fields that for logical reasons are better displayed in separate groups.
More than one of these groups applies to the same contact type. (By inheritance)
Both of these groups are available in the contact view and edit pages and some contacts have data in them.
However in advanced search when I expand the custom fields "tab"  it says "loading" and then only loads the first set of custom fields in a sub-tab.

Is this a limitation of the Advanced Search function? If that was the case I would have expected to find some discussion about it but  if so my search didn't turn it up.
Or is it an issue with the way I have created the fields? One is at the All Contacts level, the other is at the Contact Subtype level.
If I need to make all the custom groups apply to the same Contact subtype I would like to do so now while there are only a few test contacts.

Unfortunately, I guess this is a limitation in the advanced search feature. I have tested it on the demo server. Only one group of custom fields out of all the possible groups of fields is loaded into the advanced search form.  It appears to load the first one defined that would apply to the contact type. With this in mind then it seems to be better to keep all custom fields in one big field group.

Solved. I did not make any of the fields in the second group searchable...:-[

Oops, I am pretty new to this.
