Which to install first?
June 08, 2012, 03:23:33 pm
I currently have an excel spreadsheet that has my membership listing.  I first  tried to import through the import-> membership, but no.  So I imported through contacts and they all came in, then I tried importing via membership again.  I use "insert new member",  on the next page I match the field.  I'm assuming the "Contact ID (Match to contact) * " is what I use b/c I already have my contact in. I show that all is great.
Total Rows   1064   Total rows (membership records) in uploaded file.
Valid Rows   1064   Total rows to be imported.

but when I press "Import now" I get:
Invalid Rows (skipped)   1064   Rows with invalid data in one or more fields. These rows will be skipped (not imported).
» Download Errors
Records Imported   0   Rows imported successfully.

The error is that is does match Line Number   Reason
   - do not import -   Contact ID (match to contact)   Contact ID (match to contact)
2   contact_id not valid: Gary   1   Gary   Abell

I have my contact set up for First Name, Last Name.  Not sure why it will no import.

Please help!  Thanks

For Membership you must have corresponding record in your contact table.

If u have downloaded the Import_Errors.csv file by clicking on " » Download Errors " link.
The .csv file contains  like : "Line Number","Reason", "...",.......  in first row
and in the second row it contains like : "1"," error reason", "...",.......
Here "1" means error is at line no "1" in my original file to be imported
and "error reason " is the error msg because of it can not be imported
(Read errors it will solve your problem)

For membership import you will at least need 3 field
1. Contact id /email id (matching to your contact)
2. Membership Type
3. Membership Start Date
