Missing navigation top bar on install
June 11, 2012, 10:05:47 pm
I'm evaluating a test install of civicrm 4.1.2 under drupal6 on Ubuntu server.

The problem I am running into is that the navigation bar at the top of the page is missing.  I have no idea how to find or activate it.  The civicrm demo site has a top nav bar, so I am guessing 4.1.2 should as well?

Since *most* of the documentation refers to the navbar, I'm kind of in a bind here.  I can't really do anything without it, and I haven't found any useful documentation on how to restore it.  Can anybody give me some pointers as to how to enable it?

Can you check on Firefox with Firebug installed? Look in the Console and Net tabs for any errors or missing files.

I'll install that and check the output tonight, and post back results.  Thank you!

I also have a missing navbar - and all javascript functionality is missing as though javascript were turned off in the browser (it isn't) or the resource URL's were not set (they are, correctly).

This is on a mac Lion localhost (using the native apache with php enabled, download community mysql)

In the error console there is this error reported:

RefferenceError: Can't find variable: cj

Nothing under network.

If I go to the admin page (where the fold and unfold behaviour doesn't behave) the resources all load (in the network tab)

and in addition to the above error I also have ReferrenceErrors on variables: hide and:on_load_init_blocks

myles, is this Drupal or Joomla? If Drupal, try a core theme.

Sorry to miss your reply - It is Drupal and I am using a core theme.

What versions of Drupal and CiviCRM? And what other modules are installed?

Drupal 6 - and CiviCRM 4.1.3 - latest versions with only Drupal and civicrm installed - Completely vanilla - ironically I am trying to set up a development environment in order to debug a problem in the activity processor, although I am not a developer.

This is on Mac osX Lion - I've come from a Linux environment so it may be environmental rather than the installation itself.

I don't know. I can't think of a reason why the environment could cause a JS problem, yet with those versions of Drupal and CiviCRM, the JS is known to work.

Have you tried on another browser ?

I was testing D6.16 / CiviCRM 4.1.3 for a client and found the same problem on both MAMP and CentOS. Upgrading to D6.26 solved the javascript issue.
