CiviContribute compatibility with Australian Paypal products
June 12, 2012, 01:02:27 am
I am currently using CiviCRM 4.1.1 with Drupal 6.23  (php 5.3.6, MySQL 5.3.6 and Apache 2.2.19) and the payment processor I am using is Paypal Website Payments Standard. I want to upgrade to Website Payments Pro but it is only available in US, UK and Canada but it is not available in Australia.  The Paypal product available in Australia is called Paypal Website Payments Pro Payflow Edition.

Is this Paypal product supported by CiviContribute?

Hi Martin

The Australian product has a different legacy than the US one, so has not been compatible with the code for the US Website Payments Pro.  Our clients have tended to use eWay to provide a more streamlined process than Paypal Website Payments Standard, but that does have the overhead of an online merchant facility with a financial institution which involves quite a bit of paperwork to get setup and ongoing monthly cost.

Hi Andrew,

Many thanks for your response. After talking with other CiviCRM knowledgeable people I came to the same conclusion. The thing that I was not clear about was whether or not the Australian version of Paypal website Payments Pro was supported by CiviCRM and from your comments I suspect that it is not. I already have the paperwork underway so we should be able to get eWay implemented in the next couple of weeks all being well.

Cheers and thanks
