Blank Screen accessing via Admin after Install
June 13, 2012, 01:56:32 am
I am hosting with 1and1 and the environment is Apache / mySQL 5 / php 5 / Wordpress 3.3.2 / CiviCRM 4.1.3

I successfully installed within my existing Wordpress DB and Instance (Clicking on the CiviCRM Settings under "Settings" returns "Oops! CiviCRM is Already Installed".

When I try and access the app from the link in the lower section (CiviCRM Admin) I get a blank page (via Chrome and Safari). I don't have access to the server logs, but wanted to get this up and running. Any suggestions?

Not much can be suggested without knowing what the error is. Could be a memory error, a CPU timeout, a file permissions error. You will need to ask them what the error logged is.

Some further digging and a re-install of Wordpress returns the following:
Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 29360128) (tried to allocate 4864 bytes) in <root path>/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/Action.php on line 124

Appears your account has 32M RAM which is very low and CiviCRM requires far more than that.

Okay, good to hear I know what the problem is. Do you have an idea of how much RAM an average install of CiviCRM uses? I'm on a shared hosting provider, and shopping around because this isn't the first time I've encountered the problem.

The About CiviCRM page says:

Quote
128mb PHP memory limit recommended

Many installs get by on that, many require more. It depends on each site.
