Importing Organization and Assigning to Group
June 18, 2012, 06:41:45 pm
For a customer, I've imported a bunch of churches into an Organization contact type with subtype of Church.

I want to then assign these organizations to their relevant groups. I have a bunch of groups called "Catholic", "Orthodox", "Anglican", "Uniting Church" etc.

I execute a advanced search for churches that are a part of the Uniting Church....

Note LIKE - 'Uniting Church' ...AND...
 Contact Type - 'Organization' ...AND...
 Contact Subtype - Church

I get 242 (the correct number).

I then pick the Action "Add Contacts to Group" as there is no "Add Organisations to Group" and pick the right group.

The assignment is successful.

I open phpAdmin and note that 242 records have been added to "civicrm_group_contact" and that "civicrm_group_organization" is empty.

This seems counter intuitive.

Should I be concerned at this?

Or is this because there is no "Add Organisations to Group" and so the assignment was to Contacts even though the contact type and subtype was set otherwise?

If I should be concerned, can I use phpAdmin to delete the 242 records and insert the appropriate ones into "civicrm_group_organization"?

regards
Simon

the below is correct

civicrm_group_organization is used for other purposes (for civicrm multi-sites)
