Modifying EventInfo.tpl

I'm trying to remove the "When" section from my Event Info pages. I have added custom fields for events to I can display repeating events. With Meeting days, Meeting times & Meeting dates. This worked great with some tweaking of the EventInfo.tpl file in Civi 4.0.4. I commented out the when section and all was good. However, I have upgraded a test server to 4.1.3 and the page won't display (I get the title of the event with an otherwise blank, white background) when I comment out the "When" section. Any ideas why?
