Civi and Network for Good/DonateNow integration--anyone done it?
June 27, 2012, 11:35:53 am
I'm working with an organization that uses Network for Good/DonateNow and has about 250 monthly donors. We want to get the donation history into Civi and, once it's in, set up an ongoing (preferably automated) system for getting new donations in.

The last forum post I can find on this is from 2007 and there didn't seem to be anything available, so I am hoping someone has new info or resources to share!

Has anyone successfully set up such an integration? I'm not hopeful of a purely technical solution, because DonateNow doesn't seem to have any API (though I am asking about it on their forums). So I'm interested in hearing about all the different ways folks may have managed to work this out, workarounds, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Well if they don't provide an API, it sounds like it may be hard to get the data out. If they provide some way to output a CSV or some other export, then you could use that. Doesn't sound like it would be easy to automate however.

Perhaps you could ask them about adding an API. :)

Indeed, I confirmed with them that they don't have an API. They don't really seem to care that their technical limitations cause a lot of user frustration (I already spent much time emailing and calling about the fact that their reports don't include a unique donor ID, which just seems crazy to me.) So I am not hopeful that they will develop an API.

But this feedback is helpful, to just have it confirmed that I need to implement a human solution to this issue.

Would you be willing to share a bit about what you ended up doing, Lisa? This would be a useful thing to automate.

Thanks,
Katie
