Dashlet still showing deleted reports
June 28, 2012, 08:17:20 am
I just installed CiviCRM and am impressed so far. However I am having problems with custom reports.
I created one from a template and specified that it could be a dashlet. However there were problems with the report and I deleted it. But it still appears in the list of dashlets AND I am unable to drag any of the dashlets into the Dashboard box.

You should be able to remove that dashlet from "available dashlets" using "Configure Your Dashboard". Click the "x" in the upper right corner of that dashlet.

Unfortunately nothing on the dashlet block is active including the "x"s

Check for javascript errors (Firebug extension for Firefox is a good tool for that). May be a configuration problem but if some errors show up that could give some clues.

I resolved this. Not 100% what caused it but I was in the process of migrating the Drupal site and had installed CiviCRM before the migration was complete (i.e. nameserver entries in particular.) I noticed that the URLs were incorrect and after a bit of sleuthing realized that the root url in the CiviCRM settings file was incorrect. After I fixed that the dashboard worked correctly.

That makes sense - the javascript required for the dashboard configuration widget to work properly was not being served to the browser.
