Multi-level Organization ACL Permissions (urgent : need update)
June 28, 2012, 04:44:46 pm
Need update to wiki article "Multi-level Organization ACL Permissions" : wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/x/mgPYAg

If the method explained in this article works, I am in urgent need of the remaining steps, which are "TBA" since 2009.

Currently installing CiviCRM for a vast multi-level organisation. First project phase is to provide a contact database to the initiator (city level). If implementation is successful, would then spread on regional and national levels.

Here follow the project specifications :

Initiator : City level organism, oversees 15 district centers which themselves oversee a hundred points of service.

- Each level needs two users, namely a writer and a reader.

- Each must have access to all contacts they oversee, near or far, from their own organism to the last below.

- Due to the sensible nature of these informations, they must not have access to any other contacts.

An ACL permission would be necessary for each child group one needs access to, requiring some users to be linked to 100+ ACL, and eventually 1000+ going up in the hierarchy.

Thank you very much.

Might also want to read this forum topic:

http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php?topic=3695.0

and the linked to blog posts within that topic

Might want to check on the hook documentation too:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/CiviCRM+hook+specification

There has been talk about the folks doing things like large national/state/regional orgs forming a group and helping each other. However this has not taken off as yet :(
