Convert custom search to civireport?

Hi all,

I want to take the 'price set export' custom search (civicrm/contact/search/custom?csid=9&reset=1) and convert it to a civi report so that I can then have the reporting options like sending it as an automated email report nightly. Looks like I will follow these docs to do that: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/CiviReport+structure+and+customization

But just wanted to see if anyone has previously migrated a custom search to civi report and any major roadblocks/difficulties I might encounter, or if anybody has done automated emails from custom searches and found that to be easier.
