Webform - check for matching contacts
July 02, 2012, 07:29:42 am
Is there a way to check for matching contacts when adding new contacts via a webform? I know there's the ability that if the record is found to be a duplicate then it updates rather than adds a new one.

What I ultimately want to happen is if there's a matching record then there's the option to go into that user's profile.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Have you looked at the new contact matching features in Webform CiviCRM 3?

Looks good but unfortunately I'd have to upgrade my installation, which is not really an option at this stage (due to other modules which are not available for d7 yet).

Any other way to accomplish something like this?

You haven't given much detail about what you're trying to accomplish, but I might guess that it's similar to this:

(which was done without WebformCiviCRM 3)

The original civicrm add contact form has an option to check for duplicate records based on the current input data, I want to the same for the webform version. However the example you've shown looks good but how can I get it to work on d6 on webform civicrm (version 6.x-2.4)

My best answer would be "by upgrading to D7"
I have no plans to back-port webform_civicrm 3 to d6, and Michael's form is probably custom-coded and specific to that task.
