Cannot disable civicrm contact reference field

I cannot disable the civicrm contact reference field on modules adminstration since it says

Required by: Drupal (Field type(s) in use - see Field list)
. I need to move the development site to the live server in next couple months. According to the doucmentation, I should disable the civicrm first. But with this restriction, I cannot disable the civicrm.
 Can anybody please advise me what to do with this issue?

How can I disable civicrm in this situation? Or do I have to disable it before I move the drupal/civicrm site to the prodcution server? Anybody help please???
