Visuals on 1400 by 1050
February 26, 2008, 05:27:27 pm
Am back at work now and I went to my site to find all the text had disappeared! Turns out the problem is my display settings / browser combo - IE 6 + display set to 1400 by 1050 - not quite sure the screen size I'm afraid.

Firefox is fine but the demo website looks just as bad from IE on this machine. I don't know how common this display config is.

nb - problem is that the text disappears off the bottom of the page

Hi,

Is your browser maximised (one window taking all the available screen)?

What if you reduce the size of the window and refresh the page ?

Yes, it was maximised - I will try that on Friday and see. Actually I noticed the font sizes were smaller in Firefox which was probably why it fit better.

Our team members all work on either *nix or Mac-based computers - so we don't use IE a lot. That said, we are thrilled to get specific patches which resolve display problems in IE (as long as they don't break things for more standards-compliant browsers :-) ).

BTW, are you using IE6 for a particular reason (AFIAK IE7 is the current release and has been out for a while)?

I use lots of different computers (mostly windows) with different screen displays and different versions of IE and Firefox. I actually prefer IE 6 but have 7 on some of the machines I work on. IE 7 also breaks a couple of things - the payroll site we use for our business and some links in the visio html pages I use in my day job.

Yes, that does seem to have caused some sort of refresh. If I enlarge again now it looks correct
