allow users to view their registered events, status etc
July 06, 2012, 01:48:22 am
hello
i'm a first time civicrm user trying with drupal and wordpress to replace a proprietary system.

i can successfully get events set up and people registered for them (yay!).
now i want users to be able to log in and check their own registration status (registered, pending pay later etc). they could be registered for more than one event. must be possible... yes?
i have read about custom reports and views tho i'm a bit bewildered.

could someone please give me some pointers on how to do this, for either drupal or wordpress (preferred as i'm finding it easier to use). I'm new to CMS as well.

thanks

Mike

mcbmcb0 :
The users can check all the events that they registered for and the statuses on their Contact Dashboards.

Check this http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/user?reset=1&id=102

Or you could also use Event Participant Report , check this : http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/report/instance/23?reset=1

You might wanna check the events section in book, refer : http://book.civicrm.org/user/

thanks Yashodha for the suggestions
i've read a fair bit of the online book and still don't quite get this.

1. am i right in reading that i can't change the user dashboard - to remove sections or add new ones?

2. with event participant report could you suggest the steps to limiting this to the current user?

thanks

Mike

1. You can remove current sections from the administer civicrm >> settings >> preferences pages. You can add new ones by implementing a hook and customizing a template

2. I'm not sure you can do that with the event participant report.

Thanks Lobo
is there a way i can generate an event report of any kind for just the current user?

i want  users to be able to log back in and check their status etc, if their payment received... (I know they get an email about changes). and maybe any new info about the event.

There is an events section which shows the events the user is registered for.

beyond that, u'll need to write custom code and/or implement a hook. Peted might have better ideas on how to do this w/o writing any code

You probably can with some php code in the drupal page. You'll need to check the userdashboard code and reuse that

I would probably just go down the route of building a view that is contextual on the logged in user - then the person will see the info about their rego

thanks for the suggestions.

that php code is pretty dense, especially with the includes to track, so i may try the view approach first.
if i do attempt the code approach, can you advise on which userdashboard file or tpl to try first?

thanks
